The Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art has announced a new exhibit premiering this Friday. The opening reception for Above the Fruited Plain, by Jacqueline Bishop will take place this Friday, August 15th from 4PM to 7PM. This is the first time Albrecht Kemper has featured a solo exhibit of her work, but Museum Marketing and Communications Director Madison McKinley speaks on Bishop's connection to Saint Joseph.

Maximize NW Missouri, a regional non-profit group, is seeking out local alumni and resident perspectives to guide community development in the coming years. The survey serves as a way for the organization to best serve the communities in its 18 county service region. It focuses on why residents have chosen to stay in the region, or relocate here.

After Tye Parsons chose to resign from his position, the Maryville City Council needed to find someone to take his place. In a special meeting Monday evening, the City Council chose Erin Allen to take the vacant spot. She will serve in this role until the next municipal election in April 2026, when the position will become open for all eligible candidates.

At a meeting of the Maryville City Council this week, the board approved two events taking place this September. Fall into Fun is a signature daylong festival put on by Downtown Maryville. Scheduled for September 28th, Director of Downtown Maryville DeAnn Davison says they're expecting to see record turnouts. She says it will be a busy weekend because of the university schedule.

Looking to some Northwest History, on this day in 1996, the Wormy World restaurant opened for one night only in the Horace Mann Lab School's fourth-level classroom, under the instruction of Sherri Strating. The menu for the night? Wormy casserole and chili con worme.
