After Tye Parsons chose to resign from his position, the Maryville City Council needed to find someone to take his place.

In a special meeting Monday evening, the City Council chose Erin Allen to take the vacant spot. She will serve in this role until the next municipal election in April 2026, when the position will become open for all eligible candidates.

The application was open for a 3-week period, and two letters of interest were sent in to the council to choose from.

Erin Allen will start her term on August 25. As a city council member, she will work with other members to address community needs, support city services and guide growth and development for the city of Maryville.

A future report on KXCV will have a closer look into her stepping into the position.
