Northwest Missouri State wrapped the regular season with a dominant 70-51 victory over Emporia State Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats (15-14, 8-11 MIAA) jumped ahead of the Hornets 17-8 in the first quarter and never looked back.

The 51 points for Emporia State marks its lowest-scoring output of the season. The Hornets were held to 3-12 shooting from beyond the arc, and scored just two second-chance points all game.

Northwest turned the ball over just seven times all game. It's the 10th time this season the Bearcats finished with nine or fewer giveaways in a game.

Caely Kesten led the balanced scoring attack with 12 points.

Kelsey Fields chipped in with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Sadie Maas scored seven points, grabbed six rebounds and blocked a career-high five shots.

Northwest advances to the MIAA Tournament as the No. 8 seed. The Bearcats will face Missouri Southern Wednesday at 6pm at Municipal Auditorium in the first round of the tournament. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 5:30pm.
