Northwest 63, Fort Hays State 91

Northwest women's basketball battled with No. 8 Fort Hays State throughout the first half, trailing by just nine at halftime. But the Tigers opened things up in the second half on the way to a 91-63 win over the Bearcats Saturday afternoon.

The 'Cats (7-11, 3-6 MIAA) put together two strong offensive quarters with 23 points in the first and 17 in the second, and shot 54-percent from the field including 8-16 from three-point range.

The shots wouldn't fall in the second half, and Fort Hays opened the third quarter on a 20-0 run to pull away.

Kendey Eaton paced Northwest with 13 points and four assists. The 'Cats also received 10 points apiece from Erika Schlosser, Mallory McConkey and Kaylani Maiava.

Northwest returns home for a matchup with Pittsburg State Thursday at 5:30pm. Pregame will begin at 5:10pm on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9.
