The Missouri Department of Conservation and local partners are launching “Kansas City’s Native Pitch,” a project to plant native grasses and wildflowers around the Truman Sports Complex ahead of Kansas City’s role as a 2026 FIFA World Cup host city. Organizer Tim Collins says the effort will showcase Missouri’s natural beauty to visitors, with plantings that include little bluestem, prairie dropseed, purple coneflower and black-eyed Susans. Kansas City will host four group matches starting June 16, a round-of-32 game on July 3 and a quarterfinal on July 11.

With the arrival of November, the city of St. Joseph is once again allowing the open burning of yard waste within city limits, but officials are reminding residents to follow local regulations designed to keep the community safe.

Several short-term ramp closures are planned near St. Joseph as the Missouri Department of Transportation prepares for resurfacing projects along portions of Interstate 229.

The Stanberry Elementary School is looking for volunteers to join a beloved tradition at the school.
