A St. Joseph man and woman were killed early Sunday when a motorcycle crashed east of St. Joseph, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened about 3:55 a.m. Sunday on Missouri Highway 6 near 68th Road, approximately one mile east of the city.
The highway patrol said a 53-year-old man was riding a Kawasaki Ninja westbound when he lost control while negotiating a curve. The motorcycle traveled off the roadway, struck the ground and hit a steep embankment.
The driver and his 47-year-old passenger, both of St. Joseph, were ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene. Both were wearing safety equipment, the patrol said.
The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol with the investigation.
