The Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art is unveiling two new exhibitions featuring artists whose work explores storytelling, landscape and memory through different artistic perspectives.
One exhibition showcases the work of Nebraska painter Keith Jacobshagen, who taught for many years at the University of Nebraska. Museum Exhibitions Manager Megan Benitz said Jacobshagen is nationally recognized for capturing the beauty of the Midwest through landscape paintings.
“He is nationally known for really embracing the Midwest for landscape,” Benitz said. “He does these amazing paintings that really focus on the big, beautiful skies and how different they can look day to day.”
The second featured artist is Hollis Williford, whose work centers on Western themes and imagery. Benitz said Williford is best known as a sculptor but also created paintings and drawings depicting cowboys and Native Americans.
An opening reception for the exhibitions will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the museum. The event is free and open to the public.More information is available through the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art website or by calling 816-233-7003.
