Mosaic Medical Center – Albany has been recognized as one of the top 20 critical access hospitals in the nation for overall performance, according to new rankings released by the Chartis Center for Rural Health and the National Rural Health Association.

Hospital President Katie Dias said the recognition reflects the organization’s continued focus on delivering quality rural healthcare and improving patient experiences.

“It’s such an honor,” Dias said. “It really recognizes the care and attention to rural health that we have worked so hard to provide for our communities.”

Dias said the rankings were based on several factors, including market share, quality metrics and patient experience.

The hospital places a strong emphasis on patient and caregiver feedback when identifying quality priorities, Dias said. Monthly quality committee meetings help staff evaluate performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

“Our caregivers are involved in quality metrics across the board,” Dias said. “We don’t just want to meet the bare minimum requirements. We want to show that we are improving care and that we are taking feedback and turning it into positive patient results.”

The Chartis Center for Rural Health partners with more than 900 organizations each year to help improve healthcare access and quality in rural communities across the country.
