The Maryville City Council approved new stormwater pollution prevention regulations and several street closure requests during its regular meeting Monday night.
City officials said the updated stormwater regulations are intended to strengthen policies aimed at protecting local waterways and improving long-term community infrastructure.
City Manager Ryan Heiland said the approval marks a significant milestone for the city.
“Those are ordinances and conditions we’ve needed in the community for quite a while,” Heiland said. “To get those ordinances and policies in place was a big hurdle and a big project for the community.”
Council members also approved street closures connected to the Nodaway County Fair, scheduled for July 9 through 11.
The closures will accommodate fair activities and the annual Nodaway County Fair Parade on July 11. City officials said additional details on affected streets and traffic routes will be released closer to the event.
