Williams' performance earns All-MIAA recognition

Royce Williams paced Northwest in points and rebounds per game from his guard position.

Northwest Missouri State's Royce Williams made his impact felt during his lone season wearing the Green and White.

Williams was an All-MIAA Third Team selection following a standout senior year for the Bearcats.

The Manchester, NH native posted a team high 14.4 points per game shooting 42.7% from the field. He ranked third in the league shooting 86.1% at the free throw line. The six-foot, one-inch guard also finished the regular season pulling in 6.6 rebounds per game, good for fifth in the MIAA.

Williams made his presence felt immediately in league play scoring 21 in the MIAA opener against Missouri Western in St. Joseph. He followed it up two days later with a career-high 30 points and nine rebounds in a win over Emporia State.

During senior campaign, Williams recorded three double-doubles, including a performance that featured 14 points and a career-high 13 rebounds to top Central Oklahoma.

Northwest Missouri State opens the MIAA Tournament Wednesday against Missouri Southern. Game time is scheduled for 8:15pm from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 7:45pm.
