Weekend basketball for Northwest Missouri State in Warrensburg against Central Missouri will move up to Friday to beat the incoming winter storm.
The women's and men's basketball games will now tip-off at 6pm and 8pm, respectively. They were originally scheduled for Saturday, but the threat of an impactful snow storm to mid-Missouri led administrators adjust the schedule for the safety of the teams and fans.
The National Weather Service says "confidence is high" that portions of eastern Kansas and western Missouri, stretching as far north as Kansas City and reaching as far south as Branson, will receive two to four inches of snow. In addition to the winter storm watch, a cold weather advisory is in effect with Saturday's expected high in Warrensburg at nine degrees with 20 mph winds making the temperature feel well below zero.
Friday's games at the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center will be the second meetings of the year between Northwest and Central Missouri. UCM swept the doubleheader on January 10 in Maryville.
