Northwest 81, Emporia State 56

Aaron Hare, Northwest Athletics
The Bearcats completed the regular season sweep of Emporia State on Saturday afternoon.

Northwest Missouri State lit up Emporia State from three-point range early and never slowed down on the way to an 81-56 win in the regular season finale at White Auditorium.

The Bearcats (15-15, 8-11 MIAA) hit 11 threes in the opening 20 minutes to open up a 21-point halftime lead.

Emporia State couldn't find a rhythm against Northwest. The Hornets shot just 30% in the first half and went 3-12 from long range.

Northwest won a tight battle over ESU in December 77-70. The Bearcats left no doubt in round two limiting an opponent to fewer than 60 points for the first time in three months.

Aiden Gair scored a game-high 24 points.

Royce Williams added 13 points, while Mikhail Abdul-Hamid went 4-4 from deep for 12 points.

Northwest earned the 10-seed in the MIAA Tournament and will face seven-seed Missouri Southern Wednesday at 8:15pm in Kansas City.
