Northwest Missouri State men's basketball matched an MIAA record Saturday as they knocked off Minnesota State Moorhead 92-71.

The Bearcats (4-0) have won 42 consecutive basketball games dating back to last season. That ties the conference record which was set by the Henry Iba-led Northwest teams from 1929-31.

Northwest didn't leave much doubt going up by double-digits less than 13 minutes into the game, and holding a 14-point advantage at halftime.

The 'Cats shot 55-percent in the game (30-54) and made eight of 13 three-point attempts.

Ryan Hawkins led Northwest with 27 points, including a perfect 12-12 at the free throw line.

Diego Bernard scored 24 points and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.

The Bearcats play their home opener Thursday at 6pm against St. Mary (KS) with a chance to break the MIAA's consecutive win record. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 will start at 5:30pm.
