Northwest Missouri State winter sports student-athletes began returning to campus in late December, and are gearing up for a hectic January and February before the postseason arrives.
Bearcat women's basketball put together a stellar first half against No. 6 Fort Hays in their return from the holiday break, but the game slipped away in the second half. That was followed by a tough outing against Nebraska Kearney. Northwest is 7-0 at home and will have a chance to add to that mark this week against Central Missouri and Washburn. Sophomore Sadie Maas and redshirt freshman Maggie Collins joined the program to discuss the first half of the season, and the opportunity ahead.
After one meet in December, Northwest indoor track & field will be back in the Hughes Fieldhouse for the Coach Richard Alsup Open on January 17. First-year assistant coach Cody Ingold and throws coach Tanner Berg sat down with John Coffey to highlight the upcoming stretch of six meets in less than two months.
Head men's basketball coach Matt Keeley and redshirt freshman Larenz Walters rounded out today's show. The Bearcats split last weekend's games in Hays and Kearney, with a 100-94 victory over UNK to finish the trip. Keeley and Walters talked about the strides in the program and the challenge ahead against Central Missouri and Fort Hays.
