The postseason is in full swing for Northwest Missouri State football and cross country, while the Bearcat basketball teams continue non-conference action.
The NCAA Division 2 Playoffs will include Northwest for the first time since 2022. After concluding the regular season with a share of the MIAA title, the Bearcats received an at-large bid into the postseason and will face Harding in the opening round this Saturday. Head coach John McMenamin and sophomore Holden Zigmant spoke with John Coffey about the recently released All-MIAA Teams and the challenge this weekend in Arkansas.
The NCAA Division 2 Cross Country National Championship meet will feature the entire Bearcat men's team and Olivia Bakker from the women's side as an at-large bid. The Northwest men won both the MIAA and the region, now will put themselves to the test against the best around the country. Head coach Wick Cunningham and senior Austin Goetsche joined the show ahead of this week's trip to Kenosha, WI.
The Northwest men's basketball team has strung together four straight wins behind great shooting and solid defense. The Bearcats forced 21 turnovers Monday night and held Missouri Valley to 47 points. This weekend they travel to the Wisconsin Dells for a pair of non-conference games. Head coach Matt Keeley and senior Aiden Gair discussed the success the team has found early in the year.
The first home regular season game for Northwest women's basketball is coming Wednesday against Rockhurst. The Bearcats split a pair of games against NSIC foes over the weekend in St. Joseph. Head coach Austin Meyer and redshirt freshman Kenzie Melcher discussed the upcoming opportunity against Rockhurst, and again with Lincoln visiting Maryville on Saturday.
