September 30 Bearcat Coaches Show

Northwest head tennis coach Mark Rosewell and senior Gage Foltz were guests on Tuesday's Bearcat Coaches Show.

Northwest Missouri will host soccer and volleyball this weekend, while football enters its bye week and cross country travels to a big meet in Arkansas.

A win over a ranked opponent for the first time under John McMenamin propelled Bearcat football into the national polls for the first time this season. Northwest handled Central Oklahoma on the way to a 4-1 start. McMenamin and senior linebacker Ben Einess were guests on the Bearcat Coaches Show highlighting the success.

The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame announced last week that legendary tennis coach Mark Rosewell would be a member of the 2025 induction class. Rosewell, in his 42nd year at Northwest, owns 1,267 wins as the leader of the Bearcats. He was joined by senior Gage Foltz on the broadcast to discuss his career, but also the spark Foltz is bringing to the Bearcat team.

After a week away, Northwest cross country will be in action in a pair of meets on Saturday. The majority of the women's and men's teams will be in Fayetteville, AR for the Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas. A handful of runners from the men's team will compete in the Griffon Invite in St. Joseph. Northwest cross country coach Wick Cunningham, senior Max Touron and junior Shelby Harris discussed the upcoming stretch from the final regular season meet to the MIAA Championships at the end of the month.

Bearcat soccer posted a victory in the conference opener after eight days away from the pitch. Northwest downed Northeastern State 1-0 in the 30th career shutout for goalkeeper Lily Ellis. Ellis, along with head coach Marc Gordon and junior Ximena Arnau spoke about the team's 4-2 overall start and home matches this weekend with Central Oklahoma and Newman.

After playing the entire first month of the season away from home, Northwest volleyball is looking forward to playing inside Bearcat Arena this weekend. The team's home opener is Friday against Fort Hays State, then they face No. 3 Nebraska Kearney Saturday. Bearcat head coach Amy Woerth and sophomore Chloee Hayes looked ahead to the opportunities coming up.
