City Clerk Cindy Simpson, left, swore in the newly-elected members of the Trenton City Council during Monday night’s meeting. They included, from left, Duane Urich, fourth ward; David Mlika, third ward; Marvin Humphreys, second ward; and Kevin Klinginsmith, first ward.

The Trenton City Council addressed several new business items during its recent meeting, including audit services for the 2025-26 fiscal year and upcoming vehicle purchases for the city fleet.

Council members considered a motion to approve audit services for the fiscal year ending April 30. City officials noted the audit has not yet been filed, prompting the council to seek proposals for accounting services.

The city received one proposal from its current auditing firm, Conrad and Higgins LLC.

City Manager Matt Harline said the city is behind schedule on the audit process but hopes to return to its normal timeline with a one-year contract extension.

“I’m going to offer a one-year contract,” Harline said. “Their firm has been doing it for a number of years, and we haven’t had problems like this until this year, so we’re hoping we can get back on schedule.”

Harline also announced the council plans to hold a special meeting to approve the purchase of two new police vehicles and a Ford F-150 pickup truck for city use.
