Mosaic Medical Center Maryville has received four achievement awards from the American Heart Association for following evidence-based guidelines in the treatment of stroke and coronary artery disease patients.
The American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines achievement awards recognize hospitals that align patient care with the latest scientific evidence and best practices.
Stroke Coordinator Sabrina Vega said earning the hospital's Gold Stroke award required consistently meeting performance standards for 24 months.
"We have these metrics that we follow," Vega said. "It's how quickly we can administer clot-busting medication, how quickly we can get the patient to a CAT scan and a huge variety of things. Once you've consistently met those measures for 24 months, you receive the Gold award."
Vega said the recognition demonstrates the hospital's commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based care.
"We're striving to be the best we can be," she said. "We're committed to providing patients with really good care and using evidence-based guidelines for treatment."
In addition to the Gold Stroke award, Mosaic Medical Center Maryville received Silver and Bronze achievement awards for treating patients with coronary artery disease.
