MU Extension partners to offer native plant identification workshop series

MU Extension is partnering with The Nature Conservancy, the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Missouri Prairie Foundation to offer a summer-long native plant identification workshop series.

The hands-on workshops will feature guided hikes led by MU Extension horticulture specialist Gwen Funk, who will help participants identify native plants while exploring northwest Missouri landscapes.

Workshops are scheduled for July 21 and Sept. 15 at Dunn Ranch Prairie near Hatfield and Aug. 18 at Wallace State Park in Cameron.

The sessions are open to participants of all experience levels. Organizers said attendees will have opportunities to learn from conservation experts, explore seasonal plant life and receive resources to help protect Missouri's native habitats.

John Coffey is the station manager for KXCV-KRNW, based in Maryville, Missouri.
