Maryville promotes assistant principal to high school principal

Maryville School District has selected longtime administrator Bryan Grow as its next high school principal.

The district announced Monday that Grow will take over the position beginning July 1.

Grow joined the district in 2019 as an assistant principal at Maryville High School. Before coming to Maryville, he served in the same role at Northeast Nodaway School District.

Grow said his experience as a Spoofhound administrator has prepared him for the new role.

He has worked closely with school resource officers and the MHS CARE Team, oversaw extracurricular and school-sponsored activities, coached and evaluated staff, managed hiring efforts, supervised curriculum development, coordinated CSIP planning, and updated building handbooks and safety materials each year.

“I would say that my duties as assistant principal have helped me because I feel like I already have a really good relationship with the student body, with our teachers, our faculty, staff,” Grow said.

Grow earned a Specialist in Education and a Master’s in educational leadership from Northwest Missouri State University, along with a Bachelor of Science in secondary social studies. He also spent more than a decade as a teacher and coach at Maryville Middle School

Grow replaces Thom Alvarez, who announced his retirement earlier this semester.
