A 14-year-old girl from King City has passed following an ATV crash Sunday night in Gentry County.
Authorities say the crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. on private property along U.S. Highway 48, about a mile west of King City. According to investigators, a 2022 Polaris Ranger XP, driven by a 14-year-old girl, was traveling south in a field when it attempted to turn and overturned onto its passenger side.
A 14-year-old passenger was partially ejected during the crash and suffered critical injuries. She was transported by ambulance to Mosaic Life Care before being airlifted to Children’s Mercy Hospital, where she died early Monday morning.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Authorities say neither juvenile was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, along with the Gentry County Sheriff’s Office, continues to investigate.
