A cornerstone of the Northwest Missouri State University campus, the Administration Building reflects the institution’s enduring commitment to higher education.

Governor Michael Kehoe appointed Leisha Barry (R) to serve on the Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents on Oct. 20, filling a seat left vacant by Roxanna Swaney.

Barry graduated from Northwest in 1984 and spent a career in IT Management at the Cerner Corporation in Kansas City. In her retirement, Barry has served as president of the Northwest Foundation which raises funds for University projects. Regents carry a political affiliation and Barry will serve as a Republican.

President of Northwest Lance Tatum addressed Barry’s appointment at a committee meeting of the Regents on Oct. 21, and said the Board planned to welcome her at its upcoming meeting on Oct. 24.

In addition to her work with the Foundation, Barry has served in leadership and philanthropic roles in the healthcare world. According to the Governor’s office, she is also a Missouri Master Gardener.

The Board of Regents serves as the governing body for Northwest Missouri State University. Two seats remain vacant on the Board, one for a non-voting student representative and another which has been vacant since the June resignation of longtime Regent John Moore.
