Northwest Missouri State University has released its fall census numbers as it focuses on enrollment growth and sustainability.
The University's census counted just over 8,700 students this fall. This does represent a decline, but according to the university, key numbers remain strong. Undergraduate enrollment is around 5,300, which is a slight increase from last fall.
Graduate enrollments declined 11% from last fall, landing at about 3,500 students. The decline is attributed to a loss in international students. There are only 125 international students on campus this fall, down from 557 last year.
Allison Hoffman, associate provost for enrollment management, noted an increase in transfer students is “exciting.” She also said the university has a broad geographic pull to complement its core focus of educating the region’s workforce.
