MARYVILLE, Mo. — The environmental services team at Mosaic Medical Center–Maryville has been recognized for its efforts to keep the hospital clean, earning a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The recognition places Mosaic among the top hospitals in Missouri and across the nation, according to a list compiled by Becker’s Hospital Review. Rankings are based on patient surveys.
Daniel Phipps, who manages environmental services at Mosaic, said his staff works around the clock to meet patient needs.
“No matter what shift, no matter what time of day or day of the week, we have to be here,” Phipps said. “EVS is 24/7. Our patients deserve a clean and healthy healing environment, as do our caregivers, visitors and colleagues.”
Charlotte Brown, who has worked at Mosaic for 27 years, said the people she’s met along the way make the job rewarding.
“A small community like we have, I’ve made a lot of friends. I call patients friends,” Brown said. “That makes your heart happy when you are serving somebody that really appreciates and acknowledges what you do.”
Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe also received the top cleanliness rating.
