At a meeting of the Maryville City Council this week, the board approved two events taking place this September. Fall into Fun is a signature daylong festival put on by Downtown Maryville. Scheduled for September 28th, Director of Downtown Maryville DeAnn Davison says they're expecting to see record turnouts. She says it will be a busy weekend because of the university schedule.
" Being strategic on Northwest Family Weekend, we're really hoping to collaborate more with them and get more students and families into the area as well.", says Davison.
The event will happen from 12 PM to 6PM on Sunday, September 28th, in on the Maryville square.
Another event on the agenda, the Big Brothers Big Sisters Glow 5K, had their course approved by councilmembers. That event will be on September 13th from 6:30 PM to 10 PM. Lynette Harbin with Big Brothers Big Sisters, speaks on the event.
" It's more just a fun event for people to bring their families out to. We encourage people to bring their strollers and a couple years ago we added foam hit to the end of it. That has been a huge hit with the kids and so we really appreciate the city letting us utilize the trail system, that has worked out amazing for us.", says Harbin.
