Former Northwest Missouri State head football coach Adam Dorrel resigned from the University of Central Oklahoma. UCO announced the decision following Dorrel’s aggressive actions toward the officials after Saturday's 33-31 loss to Central Missouri. Dorrel led the Brochos to a 30-21 record serving as the head coach since the 2022 season.
The Maryville native played at Northwest Missouri State under Mel Tjeerdsma before beginning his coaching career. Dorrel was the head coach of the Bearcats from 2011 through 2016. In that time he guided Northwest to a 76-8 overall record, which included national championship victories in 2013, 2015 and 2016. The Bearcats went a perfect 15-0 in all three of those seasons.
Prior to his time in Edmond, Dorrel was the head coach at Abilene Christian from 2017 through 2021 during their transition to Division I. Dorrel has an overall record of 125-61 as a head coach.
