Former Northwest Missouri State slugger Jeremiah Cabuyaban is extending his first summer playing professionally.
After completing the Trinidad Triggers season at the end of July, Cabuyaban is joining the RedPocket Mobiles of the Pioneer League for their final stretch of games through August and September.
The Kansas City native raked in the Pecos League batting .364 with 21 home runs and 85 RBIs in 49 games with the Triggers.
Cabuyaban's next step will be with one of the more unique organization's in independent baseball. The RedPocket Mobiles are a travel team that compete exclusively on the road. The Mobiles are off every Monday throughout the season and play throughout the western portion of the United States stretching from Billings, Mont. to Oakland, Calif.
The Mobiles have a well-known coaching staff led by manager Dmitri Young, a former two-time MLB All-Star for the Detroit Tigers and Washington Nationals. Ray King, a 10-year MLB veteran that played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves among others, is the pitching coach.
Cabuyaban put up monster numbers in his lone season with the Bearcats earning Second Team All-MIAA recognition. His 17 home runs are tied for second-most in a single-season. He batted .330 with 54 RBIs, and played a pivotal role as Northwest reached the regional tournament for the first time in 23 years.
