Northwest Missouri State cracked the American Baseball Coaches Association Top 30 Poll this week for the first time in program history.
The Bearcats (26-9, 16-5 MIAA) are No. 29 after a week that included a home win over No. 7 Central Missouri and a three-game road sweep of Arkansas Fort Smith. In all, Northwest is on a seven-game win streak dating back to a three-game set against No. 2 Pittsburg State March 27-29.
Northwest had previously been ranked as high as No. 17 in 2004 in the now defunct Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
They take the momentum into a big week of MIAA baseball. Currently second in the conference standings. The Bearcats play a mid-week road game against Missouri Western in St. Joseph on Wednesday, then they travel to face the league-leading Rogers State Hillcats for a three-game set Thursday through Saturday.
