Some of the top youth golfers from around the country will be venturing to Maryville this summer for the area's first premier junior competition.
The American Junior Golf Association announced Tuesday that Mozingo Lake Golf Course will host the AJGA Maryville Junior August 2-6. The competitive 54-hole championship will feature high-level golfers from 12- to 19-years-old.
"Maryville is a special place, and we look forward to showcasing our community and outstanding golf course to elite junior golfers and their families," tournament committee member Allison Hoffman said in a statement.
The event will be hosted in partnership with the City of Maryville.
The AJGA Maryville Junior will also feature a Junior-Am Fundraising Event with local golfers, business leaders and community members playing together to raise money for area high school golf programs in Maryville, Stanberry, Tarkio, Rock Port and Worth County.
"Hosting the AJGA Maryville Junior at Mozingo Lake Golf Course highlights the quality of our community, showcases one of Missouri’s top-ranked public courses and reinforces our commitment to investing in youth, tourism and economic development," city manager Ryan Heiland added.
