KXCV-KRNW's own John Coffey and Sharon Cross Bonnett will be enshrined among the greatest and most influential broadcasters in the history of the Show-Me State this summer.
The Missouri Broadcasters Association announced that Coffey and Cross Bonnett will be two of seven individuals inducted in the MBA Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
Cross Bonnett graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1965. She worked for her alma mater at KXCV-KRNW for 34 years in multiple roles, including as a producer, program director and general manager. Cross Bonnett retired in 2006. She died in 2023.
KXCV-KRNW renamed its on-air studio to the Sharon Cross Bonnett Studio in her honor last May.
Cross Bonnett's impact at KXCV-KRNW is still felt. She expanded the radio station's coverage area building KRNW 88.9 in Chillicothe in 1993, provided audio reader services for the visually impaired, launched the Bearcat Radio Network carrying Northwest athletics, and expanded the station's broadcast schedule to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Coffey is currently serving as the general manager of KXCV-KRNW, a post he's held since 2019.
The Voice of the Bearcats, Coffey has served as the radio play-by-play at Northwest Missouri State since 1985, and has never missed a football broadcast. Coffey's called 508 consecutive Bearcat football games, countless Northwest basketball games, and has narrated every historic matchup for more than four decades.
The Albany, MO native has also held news director and sports director positions at KXCV-KRNW, and was a student worker under Cross Bonnett at the radio station prior to graduating from Northwest Missouri State in 1982.
In addition to Coffey and Cross Bonnett, Denny Matthews, Les Garland, Dan Dierdorf, Lisa Rose and John Beck will also be inducted into the MBA Hall of Fame.
The induction banquet is scheduled for June 5 at Margaritaville Lake Resort in Osage Beach.
