Maryville's Groomer makes history with World Amateur Golf Ranking

North Central Missouri College Athletics
Kaleb Groomer earned his first collegiate win at the Kansas City Cup in September.

A Maryville High School graduate is making history at North Central Missouri College in Trenton.

Kaleb Groomer cracked the World Amateur Golf Rankings. It is the first time a Pirate has ever broke into the rankings.

The WAGR, offered by the R&A and USGA, is reserved for elite amateur players.

Groomer's freshman season at NCMC already includes a win at the Kansas City Cup hosted by William Jewell in late September. He's the first Pirate with an individual tournament title since 2019.

The Maryville impact at North Central is being felt throughout the team. Kaleb Groomer is joined on the squad by his brother Dylan and high school teammate Lucas Vierthaler.

NCMC golf will wrap up the fall season in the Virginia McCoy Fall Invitational October 13 and 14 at the National Golf Club in Kansas City.

Matt Tritten is the underwriting sales associate and sports director for KXCV-KRNW, based in Maryville, Missouri.
