Spoofhounds back local patients with annual Pink Out

The annual Pink Out held by Maryville High School girls golf was a success on and off the fairways at Mozingo Lake Golf Course.

The Spoofhounds improved to 15-0 in match play with a victory over Mound City, Rock Port and East Atchison on Maryville's home course. The lone senior for the 'Hounds, Alayna Pargas, was the medalist firing a 42 on the day.

The event, however, digs deeper than performances on the golf course. The annual Pink Out is also an opportunity for the Maryville team to give back to its community. The Spoofhounds collect donations for the oncology unit and its patients at Mosaic Medical Center - Maryville for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Monetary donations reached nearly $2,000, while additional items given included throws, hats, gloves, books, sports drinks and personal hygiene products.

"We are very proud of our girls and their parents and all the effort that went into this event," Spoofhound head coach Brenda Ricks said.

The golfers donned pink for the match, while also decorating a golf cart in pink decorations and filling it full with the donated items.
