Northwest Missouri State golf was selected fourth in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll.
The Bearcats made their first trip to the NCAA Central Regional thanks to a second place finish in the league meet a year ago. Northwest lost a pair of impactful seniors from that squad, but are already trending in the right direction.
Led by sophomore Lauren Briggs and junior transfer Clara Peake, the Bearcats were fourth of 18 teams in the Central Region Fall Preview last week.
Briggs finished third individually firing an even 72 in both days of the tournament. Peake posted a ninth place finish in her Northwest debut thanks to a strong second round that included four birdies in her first seven holes.
Northwest is off this week. They will play in Hudson, Wisconsin September 15 and 16 in the Maverick/Golden Bear Fall Brawl hosted by Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul.
