Northwest 41, Emporia State 14

Aaron Hare, Northwest Athletics
Dominic Myers hit the century mark rushing for the second time this season.

Northwest Missouri State's perfect run through the MIAA continued Saturday in a 41-14 drubbing of Emporia State during the Hornets homecoming.

The Bearcats (8-1, 7-0 MIAA) bullied ESU, limiting the home team to 71 passing yards — their fewest since 2015. Emporia had averaged 311.6 yards per game through the air, but Northwest held the attack in check racking up four sacks, an interception and five pass breakups along the way.

Carter Edwards provided a stellar performance with five tackles, two and a half sacks, an interception and a forced fumble. Fellow senior Clayton Power tacked on one and a half sacks.

Dominic Myers put together one of his best games as a Bearcat with 100 rushing yards, 62 receiving on eight receptions, and three total touchdowns.

Myers was the top target for quarterback Chris Ruhnke. Ruhnke threw for 204 yards and a pair of scores in the win.

Northwest returns home next Saturday, November 8 to play Missouri Western. Kickoff is 1:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 12:30pm.
