Northwest Missouri State University will welcome parents and alumni to campus for Family Weekend, but the majority of the Bearcat athletic programs will hit the road for competition.
Leading off this week's Bearcat Coaches Show, head football coach John McMenamin and senior center Wes Merriman sat down to discuss a gritty win in Joplin over Missouri Southern last weekend, and the opportunity ahead with Central Oklahoma visiting Maryville on Saturday.
Bearcat cross country will get a week to prepare for its next meet in Arkansas on October 4. Both the women's and men's teams finished second in their divisions at the Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invitational in Lincoln, NE last weekend. Wick Cunningham and seniors Lou Maquaire and Barnabe Gabillet talked about the start to the season, as well as their experience as international students competing at Northwest.
The conference slate for Northwest soccer gets underway Sunday in Tahlequah, OK as the Bearcats face Northeastern State. The team finished its non-conference schedule last week with a win over Southwest Baptist before going on the road for an exhibition against Oral Roberts. Head coach Marc Gordon and freshmen Addy Armstrong and Lilly Gibler spoke with John Coffey about the strides the team has made.
Bearcat volleyball will get tested right out of the gate in MIAA matches with No. 7 Washburn and Emporia State this weekend. Northwest carries a 6-3 mark into the final weekend on the road before finally opening up at home on October 3. Northwest head coach Amy Woerth and senior Karsen VanScoy sat down with us to highlight the weekend.
The women's ITA Regional wrapped up last weekend, while the men's begins on Friday for Northwest Missouri State tennis. Bearcat head coach Mark Rosewell and seniors Antonin Leborne and Miru Nonaka spoke about the opportunities for the team as the fall season winds down.
