(Red Oak) -- The city of Red Oak was among 10 Iowa communities to receive a street sign package through a state grant program.

Red Oak officials announced Thursday evening that the community received a 2026 Work Zone Sign Package Program Grant, which is administered through the Local Technical Assistance Program and funded by the Iowa Department of Transportation. City officials say the package includes four "road work ahead" 36-inch roll up signs with snap overlays that can change to "road closed ahead," two "one lane road ahead" 36-inch roll up signs, two "be prepared to stop" 36-inch roll up signs, eight sign stands, 10 42 inch channelizers with 30-pound bases, 16 28-inch cones with reflective bands, two Type III barricades, and six high visibility vests.

Officials say a representative of the Local Technical Assistance Program delivered the equipment to the city on Wednesday.

Other communities receiving the grant in 2026 include Belle Plaine, Britt, Elkhart, Hawarden, Inwood, Kingsley, LaMotte, Newell, and Sabula.
