The City of St. Joseph Health Department announced Monday that it will continue providing Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) services for the upcoming fiscal year.
WIC is a federal supplemental nutrition program that serves pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and children up to age 5. The program provides food packages specifically designed to supply essential nutrients such as iron, protein, calcium, and vitamins A and C.
Eligible participants receive items including fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables, cereal, fortified milk and cheese, eggs, and whole-grain bread products.
The St. Joseph Health Department distributes WIC benefits at its office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
