Big news for paperback readers in St Joseph: the city libraries are getting a new book-covering machine.

The Saint Joseph Public Library was recently awarded a $3,000 grant by the region's Recycling and Waste Management District.

The grant provides partial funding for the purchase of book covering machines at each of the four Saint Joseph Public Library locations. The plastic covers laminated onto paperbacks extend their lifetimes, both on the shelf, and in the hands of readers.

The new covering machines will use a recyclable plastic material, an upgrade from the current plastic covers at use in the city.
