Today's update includes:
- Nodaway County rural water board members do not discuss the idea of asking the city of Maryville to sell reclaimed water if a data center is built. Opponents to the data continue to be told that the water board is obligated to sell water to the data center owner.
- The Maryville city council will be addressing conflicting ordinances regulating utility vehicles, or UTV’s. Then the council will consider whether to allow UTV’s on city streets with a city permit. Maryville's police chief is opposed to permitting UTV's.
- The Maryville fire department recently hosted fire departments from around Nodaway County in a joint training exercise involving electrical safety training. See photos and videos on the fire department's Facebook page.
- The quarterly meeting of the Northwest Missouri State University board of regents is Thursday afternoon at 1:30 in the student union.
- The MIAA's football preseason polls has Northwest Missouri State at the top of the media poll with Pittsburg State second. The order is reversed in the coaches poll, with the Gorillas first and the Bearcats second.
- Monday was the first day for employees in the Maryville R-II district, which includes about 20 new certified staff members.
- The Stanberry R-II school board held a special meeting this month, where a proposal to adopt a dual sports policy for the upcoming school year was defeated by a five to two vote.
- With the primary and amendment election next Tuesday, is a reminder that no excuse absentee voting is underway. In Nodaway County, county clerk Melinda Patton says this can be done in her office weekdays from eight until 4:30 and this Saturday morning from eight until noon.
- Mosaic Medical Center Maryville has been recognized with four awards from the American Heart Association.
