A Northwest Missouri State billboard that includes a three dimensional Bobby Bearcat coming out of the billboard has "created a lot of excitement (and) a lot of awareness".

That was part of president Lance Tatum's report to the board of regents at last Friday's meeting (October 30).

Dr. Tatum said the feedback "was the intent" as part of the university's student recruitment effort.

He added "Now the question is how do you take that and turn that it into something that is useful within this enrollment conversation".

The billboard, which is on Interstate 29 northbound in Platte City near the Highway 92 exit, was developed by the university's creative group.

Bill Oliver has returned to his alma mater as News Director for KXCV/KRNW after leading award winning news operations as part of a career that has also included sports, operations, management, and sales at public and commercial radio stations in Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska.

A 1981 Northwest Missouri State University graduate, Oliver was deeply involved with KXCV and KDLX as a student, hosting music and news programs, calling sports broadcasts, and helping keep the station on the air after the 1979 Administration Building fire.

Oliver says his return is motivated by a desire to be closer to family and to give back to the university and the mentors who helped shape his broadcasting career.
