Election Day stories and results around KXCV-KRNW's four state listening area

Election day workers and voters at two locations in south Nodaway County started the day in the dark. Power outages were discovered at the Grant Township location in Barnard at the old MoDOT barn and in Washington Township location at the Guilford community center. Before Evergy restored power, business was conducted by cell phone flashlights using voting equipment running on battery backup.

Election night returns on KXCV, KRNW, and the Bearcat Public Media app includes 29 contested races and 14 special questions in our four state listening area. After voting ends at seven p.m., we'll have results from the four state region at 15, 30, and 55 minutes after the hour...complementing election night coverage from National Public Radio on 90.5 FM, 88.9 FM, and the app.

Bill Oliver has returned to his alma mater as News Director for KXCV/KRNW after leading award winning news operations as part of a career that has also included sports, operations, management, and sales at public and commercial radio stations in Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska.

A 1981 Northwest Missouri State University graduate, Oliver was deeply involved with KXCV and KDLX as a student, hosting music and news programs, calling sports broadcasts, and helping keep the station on the air after the 1979 Administration Building fire.

Oliver says his return is motivated by a desire to be closer to family and to give back to the university and the mentors who helped shape his broadcasting career.
