Northwest Missouri State's president tells the board of regents there is no wager with Emporia State's president, who is a former Northwest vice president, for Saturday's football matchup between the tenth ranked Bearcats and the ninth ranked Hornets.

President Lance Tatum, responding to a question by regent Jason Klindt of Kearney at the end of Friday's quarterly meeting, said "No, we did not bet on anything. Dr. Baker has indicated that he's going to be in town for the game and we are extending all the privileges that a president of a university deserves to visit another campus, and we'll show him no love though from two o'clock until four o'clock."

Before that, Dr. Tatum said "I'm absolutely, positively counting on a victory tomorrow. There's no question about this. (I) told coach McMenamin that there is little room for error here. I have been consulting with my football adviser on a game plan. I feel supremely confident we've come up with something that is workable."

Saturday's broadcast of the game on KXCV, KRNW, and the Bearcat public media app begins at 1 p.m.

Bill Oliver has returned to his alma mater as News Director for KXCV/KRNW after leading award winning news operations as part of a career that has also included sports, operations, management, and sales at public and commercial radio stations in Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska.

A 1981 Northwest Missouri State University graduate, Oliver was deeply involved with KXCV and KDLX as a student, hosting music and news programs, calling sports broadcasts, and helping keep the station on the air after the 1979 Administration Building fire.

Oliver says his return is motivated by a desire to be closer to family and to give back to the university and the mentors who helped shape his broadcasting career.
