News release from Northwest Missouri State University:
Northwest Missouri State University’s School of Fine and Performing Arts is highlighting artwork created by its faculty during its next exhibit of the 2026-27 academic year.
The annual faculty art exhibit inside the Olive DeLuce Art Gallery at the Olive Deluce Fine Arts Building opens Monday, Nov. 2, with a lecture featuring the artists discussing their work at 6 p.m. in the Charles Johnson Theater, followed by a reception.
The exhibit continues through Monday, Nov. 16.
“The studio art faculty at Northwest are practicing artists who balance research, studio production and active exhibition schedules with teaching and mentoring our students,” Dr. Karen Britt, a Northwest associate professor of art, said. “In their classes, faculty encourage art students to cultivate research-based studio practices.”
Britt added, “The faculty exhibition provides students with valuable insight into contemporary art practices and building professional creative careers. Moreover, the exhibition offers the community an opportunity to become better acquainted with our talented faculty by engaging with their artwork. The latter is one of my favorite ways to get to know a contemporary artist.”
The featured artists and their media are:
- Scott Arthur, drawing, painting
- Britain Bray, digital illustration
- Dr. Marie Huard, fiber arts
- Thomas LaPann, mixed media and sculpture
- Maria Pimenova, laser-cut paper constructions
- Sarah Sipling, mixed media and printmaking
- Veronica Watkins, ceramics
All exhibits are free and open to the public on the first floor of the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building.
