The city of St. Joseph's parks and recreation department announces the start of building a nature trail along the Missouri River.

The city's Facebook page says an area is being cleared near the Remington Nature Center's riverwalk trail.

The post says "The goal of the project is to provide a space where visitors can interact with nature while also being a place for educational programs."

Patrick Quinn of St. Joseph's parks department is shown on a video posted on the city's Facebook page along with drone and ground footage of the five acre area where staff will work in the future with groups who will conduct educational programs.

The first stages of the trail are expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The project is funded by the city and a matching grant from the Missouri department of conservation.

Bill Oliver has returned to his alma mater as News Director for KXCV/KRNW after leading award winning news operations as part of a career that has also included sports, operations, management, and sales at public and commercial radio stations in Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska.

A 1981 Northwest Missouri State University graduate, Oliver was deeply involved with KXCV and KDLX as a student, hosting music and news programs, calling sports broadcasts, and helping keep the station on the air after the 1979 Administration Building fire.

Oliver says his return is motivated by a desire to be closer to family and to give back to the university and the mentors who helped shape his broadcasting career.
