Those who use the city of Maryville's trail system may have noticed some additional visitors this week.

The city's Facebook page says repairs are being made to remove trip hazards and improve safety and accessibility.

Repairs began near the intersection of South Davis and East Thompson and have progressed south and west along Davis, Saunders and Torrance.

An outside contractor was hired to use specialized concrete cutting equipment to smooth uneven joints and eliminate trip hazards.

Concrete sections requiring full replacement will be done at a later date.

Bill Oliver has returned to his alma mater as News Director for KXCV/KRNW after leading award winning news operations as part of a career that has also included sports, operations, management, and sales at public and commercial radio stations in Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska.

A 1981 Northwest Missouri State University graduate, Oliver was deeply involved with KXCV and KDLX as a student, hosting music and news programs, calling sports broadcasts, and helping keep the station on the air after the 1979 Administration Building fire.

Oliver says his return is motivated by a desire to be closer to family and to give back to the university and the mentors who helped shape his broadcasting career.
