The future of Chillicothe's city hall building was part of Monday's city council meeting (held October 12).

According to draft minutes of the meeting provided by the city, the council consensus decided to move forward with the first of a four phase renovation of the 100 year old building.

The first phase will include replacing the roof.

The council was told last month the cost of the total renovation was more than $10 million dollars.

The project will take place over a number of years as the council budgets money in its capital improvement fund.

The council was also informed Monday that on October 23rd, the city hall basement will be professionally cleaned and the carpet in council chambers will be shampooed following a sewer backup.

Bill Oliver has returned to his alma mater as News Director for KXCV/KRNW after leading award winning news operations as part of a career that has also included sports, operations, management, and sales at public and commercial radio stations in Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska.

A 1981 Northwest Missouri State University graduate, Oliver was deeply involved with KXCV and KDLX as a student, hosting music and news programs, calling sports broadcasts, and helping keep the station on the air after the 1979 Administration Building fire.

Oliver says his return is motivated by a desire to be closer to family and to give back to the university and the mentors who helped shape his broadcasting career.
