The regional food bank serving 14 counties in northwest Missouri and two counties in northeast Kansas announces results of volunteer efforts during the last two months.

Second Harvest Community Food Bank posted on its Facebook page Wednesday (October 14) that more than 60 companies participating in their corporate food fight promotion raised 120,000 meals for families in need.

Also from the Second Harvest Facebook page, the organization announced results of volunteer efforts during September. As the agency celebrated its 45th anniversary, 41 volunteer groups put together over 1,100 senior boxes and almost 650 family packs and collected almost 2,400 pounds of food at Fill the Van events. The estimated value of the volunteers 637 hours of service was almost $20,000.

All 16 counties served by Second Harvest are in the KXCV-KRNW listening area.

Bill Oliver has returned to his alma mater as News Director for KXCV/KRNW after leading award winning news operations as part of a career that has also included sports, operations, management, and sales at public and commercial radio stations in Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska.

A 1981 Northwest Missouri State University graduate, Oliver was deeply involved with KXCV and KDLX as a student, hosting music and news programs, calling sports broadcasts, and helping keep the station on the air after the 1979 Administration Building fire.

Oliver says his return is motivated by a desire to be closer to family and to give back to the university and the mentors who helped shape his broadcasting career.
