Two weekend crashes involving injuries on Highway 36 and injuries after a golf cart overturned

Five people were injured in a two vehicle crash east of Hamilton Friday night (October 9). The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a westbound SUV on Highway 36 was struck on the passenger side by a pickup that was northbound on Nettleton Road. The driver of the pickup, a 70 year old man from Hamilton, was flown with serious injuries to a Kansas City hospital. His passenger, a 62 year old man from Hamilton, was taken to the hospital in Cameron with moderate injuries. The driver of the SUV, a 58 year old woman from Lincoln Nebraska, sustained moderate injuries and two passengers, a 13 and a 16 year old, sustained serious injuries. They were taken to the hospital in St. Joseph. No names were released.

The driver of a SUV attempting to stop when a dump truck crossed in front wound up in the hospital. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported this happened Saturday afternoon (October 10) on Highway 36 west of Breckenridge at the intersection with Northeast Panther Road. The northbound dump truck struck the driver's side of the westbound SUV, causing the SUV to strike a guard rail and overturn. The 55 year old man driving the SUV, from Shawnee Kansas, was taken to a hospital in Liberty with minor injuries. The 36 year old man from Lawson driving the dump truck was not injured. No names were released.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a crash where a golf cart overturned and the driver and a passenger sustained moderate injuries. This took place Saturday night (October 10) south of Mercer in the Lake Marie community. The golf cart left the road, struck a ditch, and rolled onto the driver's side. The 44 year old man driving the golf cart was taken to the hospital in Corydon Iowa. The 58 year old male passenger refused treatment at the scene. Both men are from Des Moines. No names were released.
