Nodaway County sheriff Austin Hann's quarterly report to county commissioners at their October 1st meeting included the hiring of a person who will provide security at the courthouse on court days. Hann said he plans on a doing a "media push" in the next four weeks informing the public that courthouse employees will enter and exit on the west side facing Main Street while public access will be on the east side facing Market Street.

Hann also reported a jail inmate plugged a sewer line with towels and rags. The sheriff said the clog was discovered before there was damage. There was a cleanup when the line was cleared, which Hann described as a geyser.

The sheriff also had updates on staffing, the progress on implementing a new computer records management system, and as of October 1 having a jail population of 19 inmates.
