Maryville's airport has several projects in various stages.

What is and will be happening at Northwest Missouri Regional Airport were brought up during the last city council meeting (September 28).

City manager Ryan Heiland said talking with the airport advisory board, consideration is being given to solicit proposals from a private entity to manage the facility, formally known as a fixed based operator (FBO).

Heiland also said there will be a ribbon cutting of the airport's community hangar on October 23rd at 10:30 a.m.

And the council's approval of the fiscal year 2027 budget during the meeting included at the airport, hiring a part-time person starting in March of 2027 and spending $60,000 dollars towards an update of the airport's layout plan. Grant money from the Federal Aviation Administration will pay the remainder of the estimated $550,000 cost.

Bill Oliver has returned to his alma mater as News Director for KXCV/KRNW after leading award winning news operations as part of a career that has also included sports, operations, management, and sales at public and commercial radio stations in Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska.

A 1981 Northwest Missouri State University graduate, Oliver was deeply involved with KXCV and KDLX as a student, hosting music and news programs, calling sports broadcasts, and helping keep the station on the air after the 1979 Administration Building fire.

Oliver says his return is motivated by a desire to be closer to family and to give back to the university and the mentors who helped shape his broadcasting career.
